World aids day commemoration

The International Institute of Rhode Island
is hosting a day of education, entertainment and advocacy. The event includes live drumming from Mali and on-hand expert advice.

This gathering will provide performance-based HIV/AIDS education for the immigrant and refugee community of Providence. Questions like "What is HIV?" and "How does the virus behave in the body?" will be answered with live West African drumming, dance and singing. Interactive skits on how best to support people living with HIV and how to deal with stigma will be performed by volunteers. A doctor from Miriam Hospital will be present to answer questions regarding this virus which has infected over 40 million people worldwide.
