U.S. Senate Poised to reform immigration

Contact your Senators today and urge them to support comprehensive reform.

We are deeply concerned by the recent news of further action to fully single-out immigrants from basic rights and protections. On March 2nd, the Senate Judiciary Committee began a “mark up” of the draft comprehensive reform legislation compiled by Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA).  Amendments are being discussed this Wednesday and Thursday. It is expected that it will be brought to the Senate floor the week of March 27, 2006.

The time to act is NOW...Make your voices heard

Please take the time to contact your Senators and let them know that Immigration Reform must be a comprehensive solution that is true to our tradition as a nation of immigrants – a solution that will make our immigration system safe, legal, orderly, and fair to all.  It is important that our immigration policies be more realistic and enforceable.

Provisions must include the following:
1)
Comprehensive reform
2)
A path to citizenship
3)
Worker protection
4)
The opportunity for families to reunite
5)
Rule of Law and Enhanced Security
6)
Citizenship and Civic Participation
