IIRI Refugee clients exhibit photos at rhode island school of design

You are invited to attend the opening of a unique photography exhibit at RISD on Tuesday, May 6 at noon.

RISD's Department of Design and Art Education in partnership with IIRI will be exhibiting the photographs of refugee clients - the first digital photographs ever taken by the clients.

Over her winter break, RISD photography student Emily Belz worked with clients of the Refugee Resettlement Department at IIRI teaching them how to use a digital camera, take photos, and upload them to the computer, along with simple editing skills such as cropping. The students took photos of their every day lives focusing mostly on their family and friends. Students displayed their favorite photographs at IIRI where they were able to share the stories behind each photo.

The RISD exhibit will open Tuesday, May 6 with a reception from noon to 1pm at 20 Washington Place. A map may be viewed here.

For more information, please contact Emily Beltz at ebelz@mindspring.com. We hope to see you there!
